Dear Still-Waiting Road Home Applicants,

If any of you received a form letter stating that they are re-checking your percentage damage to your home because FEMA determined that you did not qualify but you live in a stick-built house and had much more than 1 foot of water, CHAT would like to publicize your case.

Ms. Carole Mahoney had a letter to the editor published in the Times-Picayune today. She is in that awful situation. If you are too and are willing to possibly speak to the media, please send an email to chatlra at yahoo.com with FEMA Mistake in the subject.

CHAT was told today, when we pressed the issue with Road Home officials, that applicants with wrong FEMA damage assessments that disqualified them for grants despite lots of damage to their stick-built home (easily fitting the 1 foot of water or 600 sq. ft. of roof damage) would be fast-tracked.

PS Please go to http://chat.thinknola.com if you have not yet sent your email to the state legislators today. They are reading and many are responding to the emails. It is disgraceful that they are not coming up with $1 billion dollars for the Road Home shortfall to prime Congress to give our state the other $4 billion. The legislative session is almost over! Please write today.

Productive complaining: the CHAT survey to document how the Road Home Program is doing and share with officials and the legislative auditors at:
