Are you sitting down?
I received a call from on Nia Mason of ICF about my application. I asked
Nia about my aberrant PSV and she related the following (paraphrased):
"We have a problem with our computer system. Normally, when we enter an
applicant's certified Louisiana appraisal, the 'software' automatically
appreciates it to August 2005. In your case, the software DEPRECIATED your
appraised value from $220,000 to $214,000"
I asked Ms Mason if she could use high school algebra to find out what
number could be entered to arrive at a DEPRECIATED value of $220,000. Her
reply was "We couldn't do that". I suggested that she could write a letter
to her files which explaining why it was necessary to use common sense. Her
response was a <chuckle>.
This exchange now puts in perspective a previous statement by an RHP
representative that the "computer" did not correctly treat applicants who
filed in August of 2006. I believe that my application is awaiting a change
in the software to correctly deal with whatever cohort of screwed-up PSVs
I'm in. This level of administrative performance is below the Stalin-era
gulag administration experienced in the former Soviet Union.
By the way, I faxed (for the second time) them a record of my ICC
disbursement I received from my flood insurance company. It was
successfully received at 4:49PM
The BPO is total Bull Piss Output. Their guidelines are to accept a LA
certified appraisers PSV if it is within 20% of ICF's PSV. Mine $30K
difference is less than 20% of their $190K figure. Ordering a BPO was not
necessary, thoughtless, delays me by 8 weeks and wastes money that should be
going to home owners. How ever ordereed it should be prosecuted to the
fullest extent.
