[FoCHAT] CHAT: payback to RH; Road Home help; CHAT meeting this Wed.

Dear Friend of CHAT,
   
  1. If you have been asked to pay back money to Road Home because of mistakes made in their grant calculations and would like to share that information, please send an email to chatlra at yahoo.com with "Payback" in the subject line and explain in detail in the body of the email and give your phone number(s) and address.
   
   
  2. Please note that some applicants mistakenly think that CHAT is organized to help individual applicants. Unfortunately, we cannot do so. We are an all-volunteer group that has had major impacts on the Road Home Program in terms of policy and procedures (but not enough), some of which are described at our website chatushome.com. We gather information from individual applicants to inform our advocacy work. We use our online survey to give us data and feedback to represent applicants' point of view with Road Home officials.
   
  If you have questions about your own application or treatment by the Road Home Program, please see our website for pointers and for some of the new regulations (change policy documents) and Road Home's road2la.org and insist upon your rights. Use certified letters and emails to be able to document your requests to Road Home. If you cannot get a copy of your records by just asking (which you should be able to get), you can use the public records request form at our web site and send the request in this legally binding way by certified mail (keep a copy of the receipt). If you are not assigned a PAL, insist on it because every applicant who needs one is supposed to get one. If the PAL is not responding, you could write a letter to complain to Constituent Services as described in my email last week.
