Dear Supporter of Fair Grants for Rebuilding Devastated S. Louisiana,

There are two important upcoming meetings.

Please come to either meeting if you are available and in the New Orleans metropolitan area and you are bothered about politics or business as usual attitudes vs. the best use of well-deserved Road Home homeowner grant money. Learn about that separate available pot of Hazard Mitigation money from FEMA released since Jan. 2008 under amazingly better-than-normal terms for most applicants for elevation allowances.

  1. CHAT's biweekly meeting is Wed. Mar. 12 at UNO at 6:30 PM, Building 7 (Old Business Administration Bldg., Rm. 212). The Road Home Program is at a crossroads in their finishing its business.

  2. There will be a Housing Task Force Meeting on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, starting at 2:30 p.m., so please mark your calendars.
The meeting will be held at the UNO Lindy C. Boggs International Conference Center. The public is allowed to make 2-3 min polite nonredundant comments.

  .

Does it bother you that some applicants got a fair grant and others not at all, and it seems to be the luck of the drawer?

Does it bother you that there is so much disregard for homeowners' needs for fair, consistent, and transparent rules and for grant dispersal procedures with the recovery of homeowners and South LA at the forefront?

Have you read the LRA Board's unanimously approved Statement of Principles and compared it to what you know about the Road Home Program, especially now that there is a declaration of a "surplus" of grant money?

  http://road2la.org/about-us/principles.htm

Does it bother you that the "surplus" is not being prioritized to help those of our homeowner neighbors who need the grant money the most to be able to keep their home?

Some of our neighbors are losing their homes because of this unfairness and it is literally sickening many of them to be emeshed in a black box of untransparent information.
