[FoCHAT] Urgent Action Needed: SB740 may be voted on Wed. in the Senate--Contact Senators

Dear Supporter of Fair Rights For Road Home Applicants,

  Please contact today either all Louisiana senators in an email supporting SB740, the Louisiana Road Home Applicants' Bill of Rights or by email and phone just your senator.

  If you are part of an organization that would like to lend your organizational support to this bill, please send me ASAP an email (mehrlich8 at yahoo.com) with the name of the organization and the name and contact information of the person in charge. If the bill passes the Senate, we could use those endorsements even more for the House so you can send them later on if you like.

  It is essential because of:
  its written documentation requirements (and copies of files to applicants free of charge) with fines payable by ICF to applicants for noncompliance, 

  provisions for applicants in limbo,

   impartial appeals rights with an administrative law judge extended to all, protection against paybacks due to contractor mistakes, 

  impartial final audit of files, 

  Road Home inspector general to investigate waste and abuse and to act as an ombudsman, 

  and improved reporting requirements to the legislature about how Road Home money is being and will be spent.

  Please send an email to all senators or just your senator.

  Using your own words is best but you could use these if you choose.

  I urge you to support SB740, the Louisiana Road Home Applicants' Bill of Rights, before it is too late to get fair grants to all homeowner applicants and to fix shortchanging mistakes.
